What have I learned about Florida?
If you work outside the city limits of Orlando, you could be fired from your job, just for being gay. Sadly, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is not yet prohibited under state laws.
I have worked for a company for 3 ½ years, working 50 to 90 hours a week on salary, made more money than any of my co-workers. Built the business from the point of failing to the point it was making money. They had several people before me try to make it work and they failed.
I should tell you, it wasn’t like everyone knew about my private life, but my direct supervisor, who was fired. His boss knew, who hated the fact that he hired me. He still works for the company and make comments to other employee’s of the company how he hates gay people and that it is against his beliefs. What I don’t understand is in 2010 how people can be like that and live with themselves.
We all need to support equal rights for all............
